The Origami Email List

The Origami Email List is an unmoderated email mailing list for the discussion of anything and everything related to origami. There are hundreds of folders on it, from beginners to experts - everyone is welcome to join in the discussion! Many well-known origami authors are on the list, including Robert Lang, John Montroll, Nick Robinson, and Tom Hull. You can even do a customized search of the list's archives. Best of all, it's free!

All you have to do to subscribe is send an email message to:

            listserv@mit.edu

with a line in it saying:

            subscribe origami your name

For example, I would write:

            subscribe origami Eric Andersen

It's a good idea to review the "netiquette" for this list first!

Once you are subscribed, you will soon get an email confirming your subscription to the list. Once this happens, you will start receiving email from the list. At this point you can begin sending messages to the list. It is customary to introduce yourself in your first email to the list, perhaps including how you became interested in origami.

To send a message to the list, send your email to:

            origami@mit.edu

Please make sure you enter a subject for your email.

The Origami Email List is quite an active list; there are often more than thirty emails each day on the list. If it is too much trouble for you to deal with this kind of email volume, or if you will be unable to check you email for a few days or more, I suggest that you start receiving the list in digest format. This format is a compilation of all of the messages from each day in a single email.

To receive the Origami Email List in digest format, send an email to:

            listserv@mit.edu

with a line in it saying:

            set origami digest

Do not include a subject line in this email.

Finally, you might be interested in knowing how to unsubscribe from the Origami Email List. To unsubscribe, send an email to:

            listserv@mit.edu

with a line in it saying:

            signoff origami

Do not send this message to origami@mit.edu.

For further help with the mailing list, send an email to:

            listserv@mit.edu

with a line in it saying:

            help

Again, please do not send this message to origami@mit.edu.

And if you've read this far, you might be interested in the Origeek Code, modeled after the infamous Geek Code...
